Understand Your Longevity Potential
There are three simple screens done at labs to reflect general levels of health and potential longevity. Fasting Insulin Levels, hs-CRP, & Homocysteine levels.
Insulin is released by the pancreas when eating to assist the cells in moving glucose inside the cell walls where it is used for energy. An elevated fasting insulin level suggests insulin resistance and increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, liver disease, and even some cancers. Insulin trigger the body to store fat around the abdominal organs and triggers inflammatory chemicals that promote plaque in blood vessels. Eventually, insulin resistance leads to pre-diabetes then diabetes.
Optimal fasting insulin should be <10
Chronic low-grade inflammation can be triggered by cellular stress and a silent increase in cell death, thus aging and has been coined "inflammaging." High sensitivity CRP is an inflammation biomarker that is not specifically diagnostic, however, when elevated, it is strongly associated with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, depression, and cognitive decline.
Optimal level is <1.0
Homocysteine is an amino acid made from dietary methionine and is a biomarker for the body's ability to "detox" and repair itself. Elevated homocysteine has been associated with heart disease, stroke, neurologic disease, erectile dysfunction, pregnancy complications and even some cancers. Inherited defects of homocysteine metabolism have been studied MTHFR defects. Optimal level is between 6-8.
I had such a lovely visit to Bloom La Vie Health! I am a little shy and the staff is so warm and welcoming! Was able to truly talk about what has been going on health wise and Dr. Nedeau listened!
